Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

No job security

I am a long term associate who witnessed 6 long term managers of my Elmsford NY store quit in a period of 9 months. I have been with the company over 20 years and I never saw anything like this. The former Club manager got displaced and left the company so they brought in another Club manager who takes pride in getting rid of long term managers and long term associates. He walks around beating his chest when he should be beating his belly which is far more bigger than his chest . Many associates along with myself really liked most of these managers who left the company. To my understanding the club manager is using the co manager to do the dirty work by writing horrible schedules, making managers work 6 days without getting time back. Since the co manager is an external she only writes schedules . Lots of associates are trying to get use to the change but moral is very low. I would like to approach the market manager and speak to him about this but for the past 7 years he just walked pass me or had something negative to tell me about my department. I really take my job seriously but after seeing how heartless managers and associates were treated it took my heart away from this job. The word around the club is that since they successfully made all the long term managers quit they will now focus in the long term associates so when the club close they won’t have to pay out a lots of money in severance.

Get out while you can!!! If it's anything like last year (January 12th), then it will be another round of closures. You can wait it out to see if you can get a nice little bonus for yourselves---severance. Of course they will wait until the holiday season so they can squeeze as much profit as possible out. We wouldn't want to affect anyone's bonus. My club was not closed, but when round 2 came about in February, we lost 5 managers including the Club manager. Job security in this day and age is necessary, Respect for the Individual is gone. Why be loyal to a company who isn't loyal to you?

Elmsford frankly is a pit. It’s a disgrace. The goal is to survive it. See what happens in these Clubs esp after Night Crew is gone.

Manager in that Club is a very good Man,

excellent GM. He is simply cleaning up mess

not of his doing. I wish him well!

That’s because it’s Market 15 !!

Guess Who???

And on goes the chain of failure!!

Who writes his Evaluation ?

Cannot fix anything, or do anything but Piss on the Clubs. Not a solutions based guy our MM in # 15..

Your turn is coming ... just a matter of time!

Sounds like to me that they were informed of the Club closing and didnt want to deal with it.

At my club we have lost 4 managers, 3 of them left for jobs no longer with Sam's club. If that's not a heads up I'm not sure what is.
