Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

People are leaving

All this pressure and uncertainty are working, I guess. People are quitting. I know a guy who took a significant cut in pay at his new job but was ecstatic about leaving Verizon nonetheless.

And I know a lot of people who are just sticking around to see if they'll be laid off for severance. Once the layoffs are done and they are still here, they'e packing and leaving as well.

I think this strategy might end up costing the company more than they have planned.

I left the last week of Dec 2019 and never looked back. The best move I've ever made. Things got so bad at Verizon that they basically made the decision for me to get the he-l out of that God forsaken place.

I got the email re: the VSP offer. But the micro site said I’m not eligible, so much to my chagrine I cannot volunteer. Still since technically I was offered, just not eligible to volunteer, I began looking and got an offer with a different company, and at a much higher salary. Just waiting for things to become official before I hand in my resignation. I’ll out of here first week of January God wiling.

This place is a train wreck, and the trains on fire, and carrying dynamite and crashing off a bridge into the ocean and there are sharks in the water, just in case anyone survives the fire, the explosion or the crash!

Every store in my district is down at least 2 reps, jobs are not being backfilled, mostly because nobody is applying, and people are being written up daily.

Any purpose in the original post, other than to stir the pot?

Employees leave, retire, exit the company for various reasons on a near weekly basis. Don't worry about the company as 20K could exit by the end of June 2019 and this company will not miss a beat. No company would really; that is what contractors and out-sourcing is for.

I volunteered. Even if I'm not offered the package now, I'll stick around until June 28 in hopes of being laid off with the enhanced package. Makes no sense to quit until then. Probably unlikely they'll do more layoffs before june 28, but who knows.

People are leaving or going on leave of absence. Districts hardly have reps to cover their stores. It is insane.
