Did Your Director Call You Today Asking You To Stay?

No joke, my director called and asked me to stay. Said only a few key people are being asked to rescind their decision to leave. Nothing being offered to keep us. No guarantees being made. Has anyone else been called?

I was asked to stay prior to 11/17 and did. So foolish.

If you really got an offer at this point then you are critical and they know they're going to have problems without you. This means you have them over a barrel. So you can play hard ball ... you'll be a contractor with no benefits. So ask for a minimum of $150 an hour, 12 months guaranteed, 3 months rolling extensions. Overtime is at time and a half for first 10 hours, then double time. And a golden parachute : if they terminate the contract for ANY reason at all they have to pay the 12 months separation. This might sound crazy but it's not... if you saw some of the deals the execs get your eyes would pop out of your head. If they can't offer something like that then walk. If you settle for less then prepare to get royally screwed in the coming 12-24 months.

Folks in my org have been asked if they'd reconsider. Bit so far MGMT isn't offering any incentive here either...

if it's a serious inquiry then they will a) put it in writing, and b) guarantee a retention contract. If not, run.

People have been asked "If they are sure" "would you reconsider" I am a manager, I was one of 3 managers asked this. Believe what you want but this is fact. I already decided with my family. I am praying I am not held I have over 20 years and I dont like the direction the company is going.

@xcd has no idea how the internet works, especially on an anonymous site.

I would want to know what's in it for me, since I know the deal for leaving. That depends on your personal situation. I have not heard of this happening in my org, but it's a big company...

I would not consider it seriously if it's only an empty promise. the directors may be more concerned about their being laid off than your well beings. By the way, I was called too by a director, but before 11/17.

Thank you to those with serious replies. It did happen. Have to make my decision today. Seems you can't trust anything Hans & company has said because I said the same thing about it not being able to be done until I got the call.

In previous packages they made a hiring company available to the people they wanted to retain. They came back as contractors with a renewable contract every year. I have known people to stay on for 2-4 years at a higher salary no benefits. You wouldn't need the benefits if you were being paid well in the contract and a severance package and able to keep your medical. Homerun.

I clicked the button but my haven't heard from my director. If you're being asked to stay don't do so without a retention package. In previous "transformations", very generous retention packages were offered to people to stay during the transition. If they aren't offering you $$ then what's the incentive??

How is that possible after 11/17? They do have the option to tell you no. Which still gives you until 6/28 in case something happens. But how do you rescind if there is nothing for you to click?
