Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Enhanced package

I volunteered. Even if I'm not offered the package now, I'll stick around until June 28 in hopes of being laid off with the enhanced package. Makes no sense to quit until then. Probably unlikely they'll do more layoffs before june 28, but who knows.

What is an enhanced package? This is the first I'm hearing about it...

"What is the word in Finance?" My finance team had a 40%+ volunteer rate. These are not all people at retirement age, many of those that volunteered still need jobs to pay mortgages, kids' college tuition, etc. but their jobs have become so unbearable and the leadership so ineffective that they're ready to walk away from well paying jobs with great benefits.

“If you volunteered and are in ops/sales/marketing then there is a 95% chance you will be let go on 12/28.”

What is the word in Finance? Are they holding people back or letting them go 12/28?

If you volunteered and are in ops/sales/marketing then there is a 95% chance you will be let go on 12/28. No need for you to worry about any other package outside of VSP offer

@WoYanm2-esd, VZ doesn't really save anything by RIF'ing someone in June. The spend is roughly the same if not more to hold on to an employee. 60 weeks of severance vs 25 weeks of work + 35 weeks of severance. The only significant difference is the pro-rated 2019 STI that the employee staying until June gets.

Yeah that wouldn’t surprise me. Lay everyone off June 29. Secretly speaking I’m hoping for a buy out and off payroll date of no later than March. But.. I’m realistic too.

VSP package is "enhanced" and you had to opt in to have a shot at it. If you elected to stay loyal to the business and got cut anyway, you get 1 week less per year. My guess is they wait until 6/29 to whack anyone and save the extra week per year of severance.
