Cisco still makes specific switches for smart buildings. However, Cisco has yet to turn a profit on any smart city profit bar one. A lot of the UAE-based team was LRed. The only reason Cisco still has anything to do with smart city projects is political. They are not good business.
In SP all hands it is said that Cisco is taking market share from Huawei, Juniper, and Nokia. Routing is growing. The market has never been this good. When engineer asks why the recent layoff and no salary increases? The SVP was basically speechless and blamed it to the top management.
Finally Huawei will win contact to do installations in China
just marketing statements. csco has been in smart city plays in middle east for a decade+ now.
they even setup and then closed down a 'connected building' BU that had actually made a device with ports accepting all types of building management protocols.
