Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Facts vs. Rumors

Bullhead City, Spring Hill, Vineland, Columbus - these are all store locations closing in January or February. I’m starting to think that the 75 stores closing is on point. Has anyone heard anything else? I hope it’s not as bad as I’m thinking, but I’m starting to sweat a little.

I’d expect the same for other C and D volume stores with lease renewals coming up. As someone in the know (Mr. HR either doesn’t know or he’s trying to give a false sense of security), the amount of stores closing will grow in 2019 and the first wave happens before the new fiscal year. The Company expanded to markets that can’t support a BBB and with pressure being applied through Amazon, this is what we’re left with. The Company is very healthy financially, we just need to find a more appropriate store count in the right markets.

Vineland is a d volume store who’s lease is expiring.

First of all, before anyone chimes in, the store count has to be reduced, that's a fact of life without any doubt.

Now, while I know the Phoenix reigon quite well, I am not aware of the situation at Bullhead City nor the other stores you mentioned. I am not able to check at this moment the volume of the stores, the leases, etc., hopefully we can get some facts to see why these stores are closing, I'm betting it's volume, lease expirations, or a combination of both.
