Another strategic technology falling rapidly to competition: notice that in the Amazon announcement they also now have a blockchain service. So any advantage IBM had in blockchain is over - even if HyperLedger did not s---, it is BSD-style open source license so Amazon could offer exactly that too if customers want it. Microsoft made their blockchain cloud stuff available a while ago.

What exactly does IBM have left that is unique? Because from where I sit, everything else seems to be being done increasingly better by more and more competitors - some of which are larger and more nimble.

I think IBM is down to only mainframes and patents as an advantage. Two decades lost to come full circle. And cloud is getting more secure so mainframes days are numbered too.

Buh-bye IBM as we know it. In the future it will only be a patent troll.

Amazon HQ2 salaries will be $150,000 avg. So start sending those resume's now.

One of our team defected to amzn recently and they are making some serious cake now.

I would have preferred Nashville, but Virginia is an awesome location as well.
