Seriously, Oracle keeps laying off people constantly. The number is in tens of thousands by now. And yet there is no outrage, no media coverage, nothing. What makes General Motors so special?
I really wish we could get a tenth of attention GM layoffs and closures are getting.
No wonder layoffs are an everyday thing here. Literally nobody but the actual employees and their families care.

Plus, let's say you're an Oracle employee in the Bay Area or some other tech hub. If you get laid off you have lots of options, and will probably get an offer for more than what you were getting.
A factory worker who gets laid because the plant closes is finished. All they can look forward to is being poor.
Plus everyone has heard of GM and sees their products on the road in great numbers every day. Ask the average what Oracle makes and you'll get a blank stare. Many have never even heard of Oracle (or dozens of other tech companies). Most also have no clue of what AWS is. They know google because they probably use it.
Unions get attention politically and in the press.
Larry Ellison is tired news. Hasn't had a fresh idea since 1999. Journalists need new news for clicks.
The GM thing is big news because the id--t US president shot off his mouth about not selling your house, the jobs are back and better than ever. This happened almost ten years after the US government bailed GM out. GM repaid the loan with interest. Also a much larger impact on the US economy and the economy of the midWest. Oracle woes can’t compete with that.
I thoguht if a company lays off 100> people it has to be reported?
