Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Layoffs continuing today?

From what I'm gathering, this week is going to be bad. The only location that was hit so far yesterday was Eagan, but we can expect more to be hit throughout the week, including today, right?

In that case, any ideas on what else is about to be hit? And just how bad it's going to get?

They don't communicate because they want to keep the news in the dark so the employees can continue working with the false hope that they're APPRECIATEd (ugh), that they'll be rewarded by a decent raise and/or promotion. Then Bingo - out the door you go. They know if employees have doubts about their job security then they'll probably not care so much or work too hard. They also think by renaming things to sound more positive ("Right-Sourcing" instead of "Outsourcing") that employees will willingly let go of their jobs because hey - it's good for the company. PUKE.

Yup it’s so offensive and the executives don’t really care about anyone except keeping their own paycheck.

I've been at this company for over a decade and it always amazes me that I hear everything by rumor and by reading it in the freaking newspaper. Corporate announcements to worker bees are vague and say nothing. I am disgusted by their lack of transparency and just a sh--y way that they inform employees who make them billions of their career Futures. It's offensive.

If you believe the media or TR spokespersons, layoffs in Eagan are complete:

Some European offices will lose half of their staff and/or will be merged. Some already notified but the worse has to come. Reuters is not a safe place anymore.

Investor day materials mention workforce will be reduced from 27K by 12% next year. Also cutting down locations significantly and reducing Capex as a % of revenue. It’s all there. Finally, “some” clarity. Check out the Webex. Live now.
