Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

The irresistible force of the cloud

For once I agree with MH. I can sign his words about the endless opportunities on the cloud market an SaaS as my own. The only problem here is that Oracle’s leaders seem to know everything that needs to be done in order to become market leaders in this segment but fail to implement their words into practice. News flash, the competitors also know about the endless opportunities for the cloud, and they keep making better products. It’s time to face the fact that we are inferior on the market and start over, with a little more innovation.

The Dev org sounds like the Trump Administration. Ok, maybe the devs folks are just a wee bit smarter and capable. But the loyalty thing? Pure trump.

Exactly. The key here is NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder). Unbelievably stupid individuals who have it in their heads that they should be treated like royalty, while they do nothing to deserve it. They lie their way up the ladder followed by id--ts that think they won't have to do anything except stroke the ego of the id--t above them. DJT all the way.

That’s really all it is, hand waiving and pontification about the obvious! Embarrassing! It’s not like cloud is something new o CIOs and most business people. What can oracle do for you? They can screw you and that’s about it!

So MH woke up and realized that cloud is a big deal for CIOs now. We are way beyond the benefits of cloud pontification here (may be he is still trying to convince himself that cloud is real : ) )

It also needs to include treating their developers with some small amount of dignity. Oracle dev works like a mafia. Corrupt managers demand loyalty from developers instead of actual work. Loyalty includes sabotaging other developers and managers for them. Total chaos.

Loyalty is rewarded with bonuses. People actually doing real work are resented and attacked. How can you build anything with that kind of dev organization?

Oracle is dead, because this won't change. The good people are leaving. Sometimes the better people are actually deliberately laid off because they are not "loyal". The entire oracle dev management stack needs to be deleted and replaced. With decent management, the right employees will be rewarded instead of attacked. Employees behaving like 3-years-old will stop what they are doing, this behavior is being encouraged by the current management.

But, that won't happen. You will need a group of competent managers from the top to start firing and replacing the existing management. LE is all hands off. Won't happen.

It needs to start with Oracle not treating their customers like a Mafia protection racket. Until that changes, nothing else will.
