Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Does taking up another Cisco job following layoff nullify severance if one does not like the new Cisco job?

I was LR'd in November and I accepted another job at Cisco before my termination date, Dec 7. After that, I interviewed with another company and they offered me a better job. If I leave my (new) job at Cisco and go to the other company, can I still take my severance package? I have until Dec 20 to sign and send the severance package. Does the fact that I accepted another job at Cisco after I got my layoff notice nullify the severance package? Note that accepting the new job was an on-line transaction - no wet signatures.

I hired an LR.d person. They had to pay back the severance. I think if you accept a new role, you are no longer eligible but ask HR.

Contact the HR # on your package and ask them. They should know the answer for sure.

An employee in my org was fired, he literally couldn't complete a task.

Remember that nobody gets fired from Cisco. If you don't like it tell your manager and get on the next LR. It's easier for them to LR you so you can sign saying you won't sue Cisco.

In UK you and new hiring mgr have (or at least did) one month to test the new role and if you (or s/he) changed your mind you could leave and still get severance. The only way to know for sure of course is to read your paperwork and/or ask HR.
