Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Couldn’t have the leaders just been upfront with us

Not that we all didn’t know or at least feel that something like this was going to happen, but when these kinds of cuts are announced the least they can do is to give the people some inputs on who is going to be affected and a more precise timeline. Not to mention that this could have been announced earlier. This just shows the real nature of the corporate world and chow a company who once took pride in its values shrinks to a point where only numbers matter.

If it’s any consolation, I think that this will backfire on them. 12% is just a number, but with those people gone, they will be losing a much more significant percentage of quality work.

Nope. Peccarelli can’t articulate a word. And Masterson tries but can’t pull it off. Honestly, do they know the business?

What you don't hear about are innovation and operational plans for growths. What you don't hear is how we're going to be ahead of customer needs. What you don't hear about is vision, purpose, mission.

Not to mention people who leave due to the chaos of figuring things out on the fly (or is that AGILE?) or the stress of picking up the work of those of us who are gone (I'm one who lost their job). So much knowledge was forced out the door--or will walk out soon. Not that the leaders care.

They don’t care. These people are numbers crunchers and feel that hard workers are fungible.

Yep - don't drink the kool aid. TR executives care only about their salary and bonuses. They put on the charade of pretending to care by sending out surveys to measure employee engagement/satisfaction, but they never take action on the results.

I've never really understood why they keep those who were let go under wraps. Do they think employees only interact and communicate with their teammates? When the entire 1st floor of your building is suddenly empty and dark, we notice. When the people you chatted with on your floor are no longer around and their office is dark, we notice. I think it's totally insulting that we're never told in any way - whether a team meeting, all hands, etc. and are just left to find out the hard way.

You assume the a) they know more than they do and b) that numbers dont or shouldnt matter. Next time dont drink the kool aid. Money is what matters to any organization. Human nature
