Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Proof we are among the best

For naysayers and whiners - Chevron is among the best places to work for on Glassdoor once again this year despite all the detractors. Employees have spoken, loud and clear. We are where we belong.

I think it is interesting how people can have such a distaste for an organization and remain a part of it. All those who complain, disparage and insult the very company that pays their wages are the very people who fail to succeed. Spend your time pursuing positive results in all aspects of your life. How in the hell can you tolerate your own negativity and projection of vileness. Guess misery loves company. A strange culture of lashing out and verbal bashing is taking hold of many. It is all so completely useless and non-productive. Take a step back and think about the effect this has on yourself and your beliefs.... it will not end well. Don't die of self-inflicted wounds. Cheer up and go about living with some sense of gratitude and see the potential which exists for your life. Seriously.

As a former Chevron employee who moved to a dmaller upstream company, I can definitely support the notion that Chevron is an excellent employer. The world outside Chevron is a lot harsher and less forgiving. Enjoy hour ride with Chevron.

In & Out Burger is #3. Chevron is #94.

Obvious trolls who likely have never even worked in the industry. Chevron has its issues like any company, but if you are smart, articulate, and work hard Chevron is a great place to be. Ignore all the haters.

@WuJhOwX-3hfz you hit the nail on the head whats wrong with Chevron the political games with experience talent out the door for those who play the game!

I worked with some smart and intelligent people there not only in the functions and in the business as well and its sad to see how things have played out. Just look at NH getting promoted to CAPEP President. Thats someone whose played the game well with the biggest gob s&*^e going around!

Hey OP, tell that to the families of all those fatalities, will you. Typical, arrogant CVX fanboy. Tell that to all the victims of harassment and bullying that you people seem so insistent on ignoring or even being proud of. Talk about your typical Chevron stereotype, unbelievable.

Chevron was an ethical company in the past. However, systemic favoritism and nepotism have ruined a good company. The old saying is true that it is not what you know, but who you know. Knowledge experienced employees are let go for employees who play the political games. It is hard to watch experience get booted out of the door for someone who networks to keep a job. The said networks are promoted not because of knowledge but because of the game playing agenda. I hope to hang in for a couple of more years because retirement is right around the corner.

It’s clear Chevron is not near the best managed company in terms of human resources. If it were, things wouldn’t be as they are.

Yes. They are ruthless compared to other upstream oil companies. They send an email and show you the door. Insensitive culprits.

Great place to work if you want to get nothing done, accept road blocks, spout company buzzwords, pretend there is accountability, convince others you are improving the way chevron is doing business and receive a fat paycheck,,,, Yeah great place to work. If you ask most people they would gladly leave the company if they could. Management pretends the surveys are a reflection of a great place to work,

Anyone who says Chevron is among the best must be either on d--gs or already gone insane. Chevron is the most ruthless employer who gets rid of people "at the drop of a hat" for no fault of theirs. Current staff in chevron must be living day by day with an air of uncertainty revolving incessantly over their heads and needless to say when they will be the next lamb to be slaughtered.

@WuJhOwX-fyj I take it your interview didn’t go too well. Never mind am sure there is an employer out there looking for someone with your talents.

OP, I’d be there at Chevron too, if I could, riding the gravy train for all it’s worth. Most employees there already know that it doesn’t take much effort to keep a job at Chevron. Just show up and don’t create trouble. Half of you lucky b--tards wouldn’t make it too far on the outside if you lost it.
