Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

People leave managers not companies

it's a classic but seems forgotten or ignored in O. many good people are driven out by their management.

I cannot understand but even with 2 CEOs Oracle CEO not make top 50 large company CEOs in USA!

1 is Microsoft CEO. #50 SAP CEO. Apparently Tesla, Facebook, Amazon, BestBuy have better CEOs than Oracle does.

Oracle needs to sue to get on list retroactively and in future. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2018/12/11/microsoft-ceo-satya-nadella-ranked-best-leader-us-comparably/2206490002/

Most of the line management and middle management have very limited decision making powers and dance to the tunes of executive management and their henchmen. It is true more or less in every large company today. Sooner or later the organization bureaucracy would force good managers to either leave or join them.

I left a year ago and I had one of the best manager. But I guess now the situation is quite toxic because less work and more politics.

I left Oracle last year. I did NOT leave because of my manager. I had a fantastic manager. I left because I felt there was no future in the area I was in, and I needed to move on. I do agree that a bad manager can drive someone out, but so can a toxic company. My manager did the best they could within a difficult environment.

people leave toxic cultures and while I try to be positive on this site, there's really not a lot positive to say about the culture overall but that has to come from the top down. the people at the top must be viewed as ethical leaders who have the best interests of the company, employees, customers, and shareholders in mind. and I truly, from the most constructive-criticism depths of my soul, do not believe that these stakeholders view our leadership in this way and they need to work to make that change. sure, there are glimmers of hope here and there below the top. we pick up some inspiring talent from our acquisitions and its sometimes those positive attitudes that built successful startups that need to spread throughout the company. I think they just get buried though. buried beneath bitter mean-spirited arrogant VPs/SeniorDirectors that have their empire and don't want to lose it.

Some managers are driving people out intentionally. The company is trying to get people to quit so they can hire your replacement in India. If you think your manager is an a--hole, grasp the idea that he might be behaving that way on purpose.
