Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Big investigation @1171

Heads up to all 1171 workers. They are doing another Investigation on who posts on here. They ate calling people into office and grilling them hard. A lot of threats.... Some big exec. Didn't like what he saw on here. I think they are trying to do a cover up on some of the borderline illegal stuff they have been pulling. Word is the mgr is under the microscope.

To have as many reviews as they did for as long as they did without replacing the local manager is a failure at both the district level and at HE. No oversight at all. That's why Sears failed as a retailer. You'll see the same kind of complaints at every Sears, and at no other large retailer today. Eddie never had any business running a company because he didn't have a f---ing clue, and that's why he lost over $10 billion.

The problem in Sears case is that it is a poor retailer. Put bluntly, it has failed on every facet of retailing from assortment to service to merchandise to basic shopkeeping standards. Under benign conditions, this would be problematic enough but in today’s hyper-competitive retail environment it is a recipe for failure on a grand scale. That failure has manifested itself in lost customers, lost market share, and a brand that has become tarnished and increasingly irrelevant.

"Someone high up in the company should be asking how customer service issues like those described on Google at that store are going on and not being addressed. "

The amount of sheer idiocy going on at 1171 is downright shocking. I finally came to the conclusion that it is all being done ON PURPOSE. There really is no other explanation. Someone higher up chose the biggest, most clueless dummy they could find and gave him the controls so he could wreck the store.

Regardless of the "Inquisition " - take a hard look at the store's Google reviews.

Instead of creating a stink over this website. Someone high up in the company should be asking how customer service issues like those described on Google at that store are going on and not being addressed. And the sad part is, many of those reviews aren't even anonymous .

"Isn’t this the same store where the 70 year old needed the hernia operation after being told to move something like apploances?"

Yep. The sh-- that goes unchecked here is unreal.

You can't tell people to 'talk to your attorney' if you're not currently paying that attorney to represent you. And it's not a good idea to say "no comment" instead of just denying things in a situation like this. A lowly retail employee telling their boss "no comment", yeah, that's going to tooootally help.

So who said anything about have a lawyer on retainer

A no comment or talk to my attorney works very well

What's really sad is they brought in this clown who knows nothing of the history of the store or its employees (and doesn't care) and let him destroy what was left of it. A lot of good people were run out of here just because they wouldn't get on their knees and s*ck this id--t's dong.

Seriously? How many Sears store associates have a lawyer on retainer? Come on.

Any actual store associates, do what @ksq said.

"All you have to say is never heard of the website"

You dont even need to say that - just say "no comment" to everything as you hand them your lawyer's card with the contact number printed on it

All you have to say is "never heard of the website and since I am not laid off, why would I go there." Then say nothing else. The "grilling" is on their dime, not yours.

Ok it looks like at least part of this is someone dropped a dime on the mgr... 88sears or whatever they call it now... rumor is it involves internal theft among other things....

Yeah, I think this is what kicked the hornet's nest:

There are... several... things in that thread that'll get the fur up on the back of a sociopathic Big Exec.

Tell management to go pound sand. They can't do anything about posts on your own time on your own device. Internet usage policy is nonbinding.

All this tells us is if you want to get your jackass manager in trouble, start mentioning your store number or district.

A lot of shady sh-- going on here. Start with management. How does a manager do things on daily basis that the associates get fired for???

So unhappy that the miserable state of the company is being revealed for what it is. What Eddie's really scared of is the journalists and lawyers in here that might be watching the show.

I would think it's because of a post 4 or 5 days ago titled "What did you think about the conference call for Auto today?" The original poster as well as many who replied spoke their mind. Just as everyone should! OP named the store number. I suppose that was more than the arrogant managers could take. I say Well Done OP and all who chimed in! Eff Sears! Eff the managers! Eff Eddie right in the azz!

What store is 1171?

That's the good thing about anonymous message boards like TheLayoff.com. As long as you don't access this site from work and you don't talk about this site at work, they will never find out who is posting to or reading this site. They could make wild guesses on who is on here, but no true investigation is valid on just wild guesses. If they are trying to suppress something that is illegal that is going on at that particular store, you are protected under the Whistleblower Act anyway, because the authorities will want to know.
