Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears Hiring!!!

Proof of just how desperate Sears, and other companies are to make you think all is well, when the ship is sinking. They will actually post fake jobs, then give applicants the run around, or post jobs which will disappear within a few months of being hired.

Yes, it's that bad.

Many of the supervisors only give part time work while barking orders at the current part timers!

Not many supervisors really care anymore, just go through the motions..

I think all full timers who are making decent money (unlike the part timers) are just sticking around because they know they won't earn what they are currently making anywhere else and where else can they stay in the hub most of their shift eating? Doesn't happen outside of Sears

Glad I got out before the end it's so nice to be working at a company that really appreciates you and for more money than what sears pays part timers!!

These supervisors are going to habe a rude awakening once sears/Kmart closes for good!

Get out now if you can..

I was a softlines zone supervisor until April of this year when I've finally had enough of the BS, the stress and the worry. Moved on to something much better but out of morbid curiosity, I not only read these boards, I check the job postings of my former store every so often and it seems like my former position at my former store pops up every so often on the Sears job page.

I have a few people I still keep in contact with that still work at my former store and they have confirmed that yes, they really have went through 4 or 5 softline zone supervisors since my departure (and that's not all). Sears is in bad shape but, in my case, with such an abrasive store manager and district managers it just made the job that much worse. Why people stay I will never know. I think it's a comfort zone kind of thing.

Who exactly is going to work for a failing company for c-appy pay in a toxic work culture with no benefits, no room for advancement and no job security, especially now that the economy has been doing better? People are leaving Sears and are not being replaced. When they are, the replacements get cold feet really quickly and move on to something better. As a hiring manager, I saw it all the time.

If Eddie does succeed in buying the remaining stores he said he wants to move forward with 50,000 employees. Currently there are 68,000 employees with Sears/Kmart so obviously 18,000 people will be gone. If these job postings are legitimate they will be for all part time workers at minimum wage. Don't expect everything and your positions to stay the same. The company will still be bleeding cash. Remember this is technically a new company so all current employees can be reassigned and/or have their positions eliminated and their wages reduced if currently above minimum wage. I expect to see all full time positions eliminated except for managers. All leads, if any, will become part time. It's going to be interesting.
