Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Why work at Dell?

For me, following:

Learning.

Inventing new markets.

Work from Home.

Competition.

Discounted corporate shopping.

What are your reasons?

It's good because I can stay away from my wife and kids for more than 10 hours and I get paid.

Get a job with fake resume, throw your team under bus. Make fool of managers and directors. Get promoted and be safe from layoffs.

Hopkinton QA has seen this movie before.

I love working for Dell.

  • 3 weeks of vacation

  • 2 weeks of PBA

  • 1 week of forced shutdown

  • 2 weeks of national holidays

150K for a qa in NDC , MDC and Hop, I will take it for a senior and principle QA with no work.

All fun and work from home at will, of course Hop is worst as every Friday is a paid day off.

promote sub par people to global important expert role and make it hell for people that has to find their ways around restrictions. Clueless brainless and narcissistic VPs and Directors who doesn't reward hardwork and result but rewards narcissism empowerment. Lazy old staffs using all their means to fight for routine valueless tasks. Fake smile fake fun. Being mean and nasty or become the subject of ridicule and personal bash from managers and directors.

I actually love working at Dell, the people, the customers and the work that I do. It's hard work, but it is good. It used to mean that working hard got a result for everyone.

BUT I can see that the current business model is past it's useby date and the resulting impossible pressure, targeting and tactics are changing all that. If you work hard now you will not get rewarded. We are overstaffed and falling over each other to sell huge DC's no one buys anymore and we need to change the game. The business needs to remodel for that. We cant stick to what we've done every year, every quarter, every week because it's no longer having the same result.

Shine shoes of your bosses, charm people around you and take free money home... that why people work at Dell. Well how long that party is going to last...not for long. A Ship with a hole in the center is bound to sink.

Has anyone at Dell gotten free tuition at Ashford University? Why would anyone want a degree from this subprime college?

Yes, work from home at will in Hopkinton. Surviving in Hopkinton VMAX QA or PowerMax QA with no work, politics and free paycheck for 7 plus years. Fake resume and fake references.
