192 Sick hours...GONE!

I was one of the faithful, long-term associates who lost their job Friday. One who came to work everyday for almost 30 years, only to forfeit 192 hours sick hours. The severance was pitiful.

@khk rude much? They were abused at the end of the day here or any other company which is why most companies have flipped over to pto days and not separating them out into sick, personal, and vacation. You’ll get more pto than you can use in one year, roll what you can over and or get them paid out it’s really simple and no need to get this upset about to be rude to one another person it’s really not that big of a deal. The only time it is, is when someone on here decides to stir the pot.

To the original poster- 30 weeks of severance pay is awesome! Some companies only offer 12 weeks severance pay to their long term employees. Although it’s hard at first, you will realize that leaving this company is a blessing and too will be much happier. Good luck and best wishes to everyone!

@ URG, don't speak your ignorant less than 30 yr associate mind unless you know what your talking about. For your info, we did get anything over 192 sick hours turned into what used to be called personal time. In other words, if you didn't always call off your sick hours banked over 192 became your hours to use as you wanted in the form of personal time. Now, they have not only stole the sick hours but also did not transfer our banked personal hours to the current PTO system.

Why are you so upset about sick hours? You never got it paid out before PTO. And in my club everyone misused them. Seriously. I had someone take vacation, get sick and then argue she should get to use her sick hours instead. Only shady a-- associates do that sh-- and you must be one of them! Take your 30 years of b--chiness and get out of my building.

Who has info on how to get a class action lawsuit started? I’m sure there are attorneys out there who get on this site. We earned the hours. Let’s get them back so we can at least use them! (Not on a family member, not after PTO is used)

It’s very clear that if you have the max sick hours in your bucket (192) you will never get to them. We are the loyal ones who never call off so going through all of our PTO to even be eligible to use them (mind you, for a family member not yourself) will never happen. They knew this when they changed the rules. It’s a slick way to take them from us and not own that’s what they were doing.

The sick hours didn't completely go away. its still there to use but you have to have no PTO hours left and it has to be used on a leave for sick family member. Cant be just you. I know, they robbed us on that one but at least its there and not completely gone.
