Again, as has been said many times before, most retailers make you work every weekend unless you request it. That's when you have the most traffic, so that's when they need their workers. It's just the nature of retail. If that is where you choose to work, that is how it's going to be.
As for why they are hiring after layoffs, it's because they chopped higher paying jobs are will be replacing them with lower paying jobs. One PSI, with salary and commission, can be at least as much as 4 part timers, probably more. Then factor in the LPM which gets 8 hours of OT, that could be another 4. Also keep in mind that this is still fiscal year 2018 until Feb. The company is still dealing with the budgets the old guard put in place and stores are dealing with the over spending they did prior to Marvin. You ALWAYS see crazy cuts this time of year because stores ALWAYS over spend in the beginning of their year because the company ALWAYS waits until March or April to finally release the actual sales targets and budgets for the year, and by that time stores have already gone over for the first two to three months. Every....freaking....year....
So, maybe Marvin will bulk up the PT staff with the cuts made and maybe he will focus on just in store stock sales and pro.
