I have not heard of any layoff in past 6 weeks or so. Not saying that there are none. Though I hear that so many ppl are moving out of the door to better places.
I do see a change as people at top are collecting data points at multiple levels from the team I work for. I call this phase as tightening of the nuts. May be this is silence before a big storm that is going to hit Oracle.

Yeah, the support for Solaris is going to s--- if wipe out the entire back line of dev, engineering, sustaining, etc. You can file bugs until the cows come home, but if there are no fixes, what’s the point?
That is where Solaris is now. The “support” is decoupled from the “technical”. Total fail.
Oracle never hesitates to abandon it's customers once it looses interest in a product or technology. Any poor customers still stuck on Solaris are screwed if they need help from Oracle.
Support = sustaining support, only phone support (that will tell you to look at knowledge articles) and access to existing patches. There's no bug fixes, no development engineering, but you can also access MOS and read up on the documentation yourself.

Define "support". There haven't been any meaningful SLA's in the contracts for a very long time, other than Oracle getting it's money.

Of course, that can be done with a very small organization, but with the attrition happening it makes one wonder if layoffs will be needed. If anything, keeping a skeleton crew around that long could be a challenge as many will reach retirement age before then.

I could totally see another RIF targeting Solaris. Sure it may not be as large as the one in 2017 but that's because there are less people but the roadmap being taken down is a very bad sign. The group will get smaller and smaller over time.
Hard to see another substantial RIF being targeted at Solaris. They've already been decimated a few times and are on life-support now. You can't, however, ignore that the previously celebrated (by Oracle) public Solaris roadmap has been taken down. And zero Solaris sessions in next week's Oracle Open World Europe in London which is surprising because Solaris has a loyal business community in EMEA.
They’re making the list and checking it more than twice to make sure they get rid of experienced people, especially women and over 50 employees, who know their jobs and expect to be fairly compensated for their work, and are looking to replace them with useless but cheap ‘class of ‘ kids. There is a RIF coming in the Solaris division. Managers are creating the lists of names at the moment. If you don't believe me, go ask them. I think I'm being sized up for the noose. Apparently it's cost driven. They are progressively defunding Solaris.
