Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Two things that will make this the final few months

I can understand that some people believe this will drag out that long, but two things are almost certainly going to make this the final few months. #1 Cash Burn - SHLD is currently burning through tens of millions of dollars in a single week just to keep the doors open #2 Incoming Revenue is not anywhere close enough to keep feeding the cash burn.

Loans had to be taken out just to attempt to fund operations through the end of this past year and those loans weren't enough because the cash burn increased. Now that lawyers and other advisors are also collecting massive fees the cash burn has increased even more.....here soon there simply will be nothing left at all. INSOLVENT

Leases and such are irrelevant. Sales costs are around 90% meaning just cost of goods and direct sales expenses. You cannot survive on 10%, out of which some leases and overhead and such, plus legal fees. The costs that are going away don't matter since much of the sales are being driven by SYW nonsense.

The real thing that's going to drag this out is cutting the unsecured creditors out of this whole b---s--- negotiation process. They're going to object to the entire bidding process and reset it from the beginning just you watch.

Wiping out the leases on closed stores, plus all the bank and unpaid trade debt, will go a long way towards making Go Forward work. Plus moving the pensions to the feds.

Interest expense will be reduced. If they stopped giving away some much free stuff with SYW it probably would slow the cash burn. Additionally they were paying leases on 1800 properties, many were closed stores.

That's my post in response to someone saying they guaranteed that this process will drag on into 2020. Thanks for re-posting. Sometimes bankruptcy proceedings do take years, BUT there is not going to be enough cash to feed the ugly monster that long in this scenario....
