Sr. APOSM Position - Questions

Loss Prevention Teams,

For those of you who were lucky enough to be promoted into the Sr. Asset Protection Operations and Safety Manager position, what can you tell us about it? Have they announced what your schedule/rotation is going to be? How many stores did you get assigned to cover? What were you told about your responsibilities'/expectations were going to be? How big of a promotion was it for you to take the position? Thanks.

According to my ASM, they were selected by the LPOSM, no interviews. So depending on the quality of his/her choices, you got either qualified people or s---ups. (My LP is amazing and he didn’t get it, so I assume the s---ups got it here). 3-6 stores, make their own schedule. How many store visits depend on need. If they are anything like our area staff, we will never see them.

Actually, in my area, they hired two black females for those positions, (highly qualified may I add) and I'm a white male...

But you're clearly too busy making blanket assumptions and butt hurt that you either weren't quified or didn't have the right attitude. Sounds like the later...

Yeah they might be spread thin but even if they started at 60k a year they cover 6 stores so they’ll be making at LEAST 12k in untaxed mileage. But hey you’re the mastermind so yeah.

To the one who thinks we are telegraphing our weaknesses.

We couldn’t be more theft friendly if we posted a sign that says come and steal our stuff.

We weee always told this Loss Prevention thing was a team effort. An effort that LP position took full credit for.

If I were a thief I’d look for short staffed businesses with liberal return policies, as well as those who don’t chase and rarely prosecute.

Hmmm. Sounds like Lowes.

So the policies that have made LP almost useless have led to the demise of the position.

The short staffing has added to our vulnerablity.

So the new slogan fits right in line here, do more for less...money. That 8k raise will mean nothing after taxes and a longer work week gets taken into consideration. Being a salary position you will be working more than the 48 cap you were working before. Calculate every hour after that chipping away at that 8k. If you've been around long enough, you will remember when LPM's were salary The good ones were working easily 55+ hours a week. After the lawsuits, that all changed and they became hourly. For most, it was like getting a raise because the Area's couldn't abuse them anymore. So, to all that were chosen and accepted the senior role, track your hours and figure your weekly average in about 6 months, then divide that by your salary and you will see you are making the same if not less than you were before...and you now have 3-6 stores to oversee. But hey, you got a sweet laptop, phone and a p-card now.

Your head will likely be on the chopping block sooner than later, as I believe taking LP out of most Lowe's stores will result in massive losses to the company.

Another major big-box building supplies retailer tried it, and apparently found it to be a mistake.

8,000 dollar raise per year, company phone and laptop, P Card, and five stores. The position will be salaried and corporate.
