Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

How do I volunteer for layoffs?

Is there a way to volunteer for layoffs at Sam's Club? I've been wanting to leave for a while now, and I have enough years to get a decent severance package, which is certainly incentive enough not to just pack up and leave right away.

Is there a way for me to indicate I'd be willing to take a package without making myself a target?

Wouldn't that be wonderful.. Unfortunately, we have to wait for the call. I know how you feel though... The whole waiting game is awful and stressful.

No, sorry. You just have to wait it out. Thats what they want you to do , jump ship so they dont have to give you anything. Another thing you have to worry about is there is talk about changing severance this new year. Check the wire.

You need to be in an area that's not member facing or low volume - PTC, O/N, membership TL, jewelry, optical, photo. These positions will likely be eliminated in the upcoming years, photo and optical will likely go 3rd party or eliminated entirely and jewelry will be something apparel associates look over. Get to one of those positions and wait it out.

As for volunteering, no. Doesn't work that way. Understand that the company wants to improve efficiencies and the associates that are part of the cut arent people they're trying to eliminate, they just want their job eliminated. So to that respect, the person doesn't matter, it's not paying someone to do something that doesn't need to be done. It's not like The Hunger Games where you can volunteer as tribute.

To volunteer, go to your manager or PTC and tell them, that you would like to put in your 2wk notice. Then in 2wks from that date you officially volunteer to not work there. Pretty simple. Good Luck!
