Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

This is all about age discrimination

Money has nothing to do with it. They want a lump they can mold to the bad management practices already followed in Lowe's. There are so many age discrimination, s-x discrimination, inappropriate comments, and all kinds of HR violations that occur. They frown on ideas or someone knowing right from wrong. This is exactly why the store is going downhill. The young are not loyal and do not care about the company. They roam around and flirt all day. They don't care about the company. Young people think only young people are of value. You get a younger store manager or ASM and they hire only younger people who are similar in age to them. They discount others as being an annoyance or not having a clue. They tap young, inexperienced on the shoulder for promotions from CSA to Service Manager with no background to support it. It is all about age discrimination. All these people who are poor managers do not want to be outshined by anyone else so they continue to propagate ignorance by hiring less qualified people than themselves. It is such a disgrace. People notice this when they shop and they make comments also. These young people pushed up to management are also very rude to customers but that info is buried by their buddy the store manager so nothing is ever done.

They want younger for a few reasons. First of all it is pay. They can pay an 18 year old less than a 40 year old. 2nd they don't want tainted judgmental people. Most 40+ year olds have been run through ringer. So their guards are up and looking for what is wrong. Young people are naive. They are less likely to stand up for themselves. 3rd. they think they can mold younger people easier with their brainwashing. What would you rather have a 40+ year old worker catching on to the BS you give or a 20 year old clueless?? Hmmm not a hard choice. Lowe's wants the stupid and as cheap as they can get.

These comments are exactly what is faced daily so obviously it is not in just our store. Oh, if you have a college degree and are working at Lowe's because your real job got outsourced and no one in the world values anyone over 40 then you are instantly treated like dog p--p in their shoe treads. Make honest observations or suggestions and they literally tell you that you are "a piece of work" or "a pain in the a--". They bend over backwards and look the other way for people in their little band of thieves but they will make your life a living hell if you aren't accepted into their klan. They hand picked people for the Service Manager training and chose people who had only been there for a few months with no management experience because they were sleeping with the person or they were young or they wanted to sleep with the person or they admired that the person was successful at sleeping with all kinds of people on the floor, etc. Rumor has it one of the chosen ones had set up sleeping quarters under a shelving unit and was caught but that individual was not fired. You can do whatever you want if you are in the klan. Then when corporate realizes that there is a lot of huge discount activity, the store manager throws an asm or someone else under the bus to protect himself. No one looks at experience or knowledge when promotions. Don't ever imagine you will get an interview for a job if you are not in the klan or are over 40. Don't ever imagine you will even be taken seriously if you are over 50. I could go on. It is so shameful and so prevalent. Most people in Lowe's would never be able to survive a real job in corporate world because their behavior would result in them being fired. These bad practices are encouraged and propagated within these klans and taught to those chosen to come into these klans.

Unfortunately I agree. 4 different stores and the favoritism, unprofessionalism, and unethical behavior abounds in every store. All from managers.

If you have good ideas, or even bring up issues that are irrefutable truths, (example. Schedules showing no weekends off violating corp policy) they threaten you rather than fix it. And Target you, then find a termination excuse.

Marvin! Your managers are Busch league. I've seen ASM sending d--k pics to cashier's, to store managers selling product to friends at cost. You name it, I've seen it, reported it, and I am labeled throughout your company and unable to get an interview.

Put checks and balances in stores. Oh wait, that was supposed to be HR and store manager but every SM and Hr are best buds, and act unethical together.

Clean out the garbage Marv. All management. Here I am with a master's degree, 15 yrs managerial experience in high tech / multi million dollar accounts, and taking orders from some control freak, snit nosed brat with anger and emotional issues. With no experience , or managerial brio. And I'm the bad apple. Lmao.

Yes, I'm leaving Lowe's. It's become a daily sitcom of lies, deceit, unethical managerial behavior, and bs. It's impossible to serve customers or do my job when I have 6 mentally challenged bad managers tasking me simultaneously and always non-related to my corporate responsibilities.

Good luck progressing with these people in charge, but it will never happen.

These new, inexperienced, unqualified managers are also extremely rude to employees. They definitely have the mentality of a slave lord. Marvin should have secret spies go into the store and watch the management....oh, maybe that is the type of management he wants. Beat the employees and slave them to death until they quit. Run the company into the ground employee first downhill.

AWESOME COMMENTS so very true, everyone knows the real truth, favored pets in the dog house, they are protected, even when one of their pets, sells Lowe's merchandise from the store on the net, most people would go to jail and locked up, but not in my store, you just leave the store, I guess kissing the old man jimmy every morning and eating breakfast with him was worth it.
