Nanuet is finally closing, can't believe that dump stayed open this long. Working over there was like being in the Twilight Zone at points.

To the post below......well said! For every door that closes, another opens. Take what skills you have gained and your talent will shine with another employer.

The texts above makes me glad that I work in a small midwestern store where we still believe in integrity. We have enough “seasoned” employees still here that busts their butt to prevent the kind of c-appy unrealistic inventories as described above. We , all of us employees constantly work to keep tags on merchandise as soon as we know it’s missing. We have sales colleagues, visual, sales managers, everyone work as a team to keep things tagged. Yes, we have had positions eliminated. Even my position was downgraded significantly. It may be phased out entirely very soon. I hold no grudges. It isn’t personal, it will be a business decision. It will help keep this store open for this community. This community needs this business to be here. It will help others keep their job. We are still a store with pride. We fight for our sales numbers. It does no good for you guys to walk around with chips on your shoulders. Have you ever lost a job through no fault of your own??? I have and more than once. It’s just as sad. You still are without money. You still have to pick yourself up and go find another. You still have to lift your head up and venture back out in the world and it’s a lot easier if you are not carrying all that negativity on your shoulders. Let it go. Be thankful for what you have today. I know I am.

I am a retired store executive with over 30 years with the company. I, too observed inventories where integrity was compromised. I remember one late night inventory in Misses Sportswear when there were 3 rolling racks of no tickets. After midnight the assistant store manager told the department manager to use the same UPC with a 24.99 price point for all those no tickets. So sad.

What you write about random tickets on merchandise is scarily true. I never understood the acceptance of the lack of integrity during inventory. No one cares about what ticket is on the item as long as there is one and it scans. Everyone just wants to go home for the night. When I was an executive in the 90s we were using sku logs to get the most accurate upcs. By 2015 no one cared anymore. Just get a sku and attach it with a stapler. It’s sad to see the demise.

How can you expect good sales results without any staff or merchandise. The big stores had all their inventory and staffing go to fullfillment after the fire. Last it was a few weeks ago they were still millions behind on fullfilment orders. Then boom, its Christmas and the week after, most foot traffic in stores the entire year, and nothing but empty fixtures. Oh and Im sorry customer, you would like to check out/pay for that merchandise? Sorry no associates, they are all busy right now trying to pull the most fullfillment this hour for the $10 giftcard prize.

Regional Management and up visiting doors, someone should offer you some eyeglasses. Because you must be blind to not see that you have no merchandise. No one acknowledges the elephant in the room. Thats because its now Dec 26, all hands on deck its time for inventory prep. Grap some staplers, its that time of year again to attach random printed sku/price tickets onto the merchandise.

Macy's did the best of the traditional mall anchors and they had a terrible holiday season. Target and Amazon did great. Just another nail in the coffin for mall based retailers Macy's is just Sears with better management.
