Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

The new system is ridiculous

The new system is ridiculous and shows whoever came up with it has no clue that stores are never fully staffed. If we only get one two day off (weekend) in 8 weeks and the rest of the time are subject to fluctuating schedules and may often have to work 6 days straight then people will quit, call out or collapse. Full time CSA's get to pick a time frame based on seniority but what part time or other full timers will want to get stuck with close every time? Part timers are only allowed to work max of 24 hours and no guarantee each week they will be scheduled. What part timer will want that unknown schedule? Specialists have to work between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. No selection based on seniority. How is that any good for specialists? There are usually only one people scheduled to work in departments and often that is all for a day so who is going to fill in? It is true slavery and shows upper management does not value people in general much less their employees. They are trying to drive employees out so they can further destroy Lowe's. It seems they are put here to destroy Lowe's and make Home Depot continue to pull ahead. Where is the leadership in this? Also, how can a computer model determine the high times for customers? If it is based on sales data then that is not true reflection of the need for employees because many customers come in to browse or ask questions. No one will be there to help them. Also why was the system down on Saturday which is the weekend and a big sales day? You are making the wrong type of changes here and destroying what was originally a c-appy job and now it is a true sh--hole place to work. Marvin and his cronies should try this and he would collapse the first day being on his feet and lifting appliances plus loading stuff into cars by himself since there is never any help. Get a clue man.

Store Manager here. I can say that we have not been given any information or direction regarding schedule rotations for Sales Floor employees. We have only been given Management guidelines. All Managers will have one weekend off and on additional Sunday each month, as before. Store Managers are losing our 2nd weekend off. KRONOS will auto-create schedules based on those guidelines, making sure no one ever works more than 6 days straight and has at least 11 hours off in between shifts.

God Bless from Carvin Marvin actually means, "open wide little boy says the priest" , or "bend over my son"

Hes the devil. And a mo--n. When he dies (not soon enough) and goes to hell, every day Hitler will shove a pineapple up his arse backwards.

What about Pro? Are they regarded as Specialists and start at 8 am too? The Pro customers usually start at 6 am, coming in for their daily concrete and supplies.

You can have a close followed by an open as long as there is a lapse of 11 hours or something like that. So you can work til 9 p.m. and open at 8. The goal is definitely to force out full timers and just have part time work force but the customers will suffer. Part timers are not reliable as a whole and they do not care to learn about tractors or appliances, etc. They are real big on ensuring they get their 15 minute breaks (which are often 30 or more) during each shift while the full timers often do not have time to take a piss much less a break.

We are all just an employee number, not a living breathing person. That's just how it is and will be until the whole company eventually falls apart...….GOD BLESS...…………………….

This is really bad. Only good thing out of this is no closing followed by an open. But the weekend thing is bad. People have lives.

It's time to get out. I waited with baited breath to see how this new regime would conduct and implement change. I see what I needed to see. It's time every Lowe's employee evaluate what is important to you and not be afraid of changing your life in a more beneficial way. Sometimes its not all about money or security.

Everything they have done is by design. There is a reason for this new structure. Remove tenured fulltime and replace with interchangeable low cost part time in a revolving door. Keep overhead down and the pockets of investors full.

When I worked at D--k's, we had counters on the doors tied into the computer system

It gave a fair view of foot traffic versus actual sales.
