Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Marvin, why are you so afraid to announce that you cut the majority of LP nationwide?

The public is not aware of the LP cuts you made and most store associates were also in the dark. In your email you stated

“After careful assessment of our LP dept, we are aligning to better support our stores and customers. The dept title will change to Asset Protection, operations bad safety to reflect our commitment to customer and employee safety and refine our focus in store operations”.

Marvin failed to mention that he cut 85-90% of LP company wide. Our LP associate in my store was actually getting congratulated by fellow employees on his new job title of “asset protection”, even though he was losing his job as of Feb 2nd.

Why so secretive Marvin? Are you afraid that dishonest associates and customers are going to empty your shelves of product? Are you afraid that safety incidents are going to reach record highs? Are you afraid that already operationally broken are going to get worse? That is what it sounds like to me!! Perhaps if these worries are preventing you from telling the real truth, then perhaps you should not have made the cuts to begin with!

Make a true company wide/public announcement as to how many LP associates nationwide were cut and how many remain!!! Perhaps your definition of transparency differs from is listed in the dictionary.

Lol the level of crazy on these posts is just something else. If everyone here thinks Lowe’s is so bad why are u here ??? If you have all the answers then any company should be ready to hire u at an incredible wage working M-F 9-4. Orrrrrrr maybe the people on here are just disgruntled poor performers who want to blame everyone else for their lack of advancement in their lives and work. Hmmmmmmm, I am gonna guess #2. Bottom line is Lowe’s has grown so much wealth and careers it’s insane. You can be ultra successful here if you work hard and be a problem solver vs a complainer. But if you are so amazing go and get that incredible job you all seem to think you are deserving of. Not holding my breath ......

I asked my HR and LP if either one gets one of the “new” positions and they both said they didn’t know, except that they both know ones in the area that have started training and have been included in meetings, so their guess is “No”.

So Marvin, your “transparency” is to massively cut jobs, create a handful of “new “ jobs to replace them, don’t have any interviewing for those jobs just choose pre-selected people based on something that nobody knows, don’t tell the people that didn’t get it , while training the ones that got picked, with zero communication from area managers like a bunch of scared chickens? And you expect the “downsized” people to keep doing their work? Can you slap people in the face any harder?

And PS Marvin, if my HR and LP are right about who they think got the positions, I think you have several EEO lawsuits coming your way, because they sure as hell weren’t chosen on ability.

Maybe he's not but I'm telling everyone. There should be consequences for bad decisions and I want to see them pay for what they've done to employees over the years.

I feel bad for our LP. He told me today he’s taking one of the supervisor positions for a deep paycut, but he has to. He and his wife just had a baby and she’s on his health insurance.

Id like to know why they gave HRs til August, but the LPs and PSI’s just get cut. We just trained a new LP 2 months ago for another store, and already hes out of a job. Wtf?

We were congratulating our LP too, until we found out she was one of the ones cut. She didn’t even know it yet. How ridiculous is it that?

Then to see Marvin’s broadcast boasting all the “asset protection “ positions they added. I think he said 650? Didnt you just lay off thousands Marvin? Stop embarrassing us with those spins. And teach your area leaders to act like leaders, not condescending uncommunicative jerks.

Good thing the company hasn't created a legion of disgruntled employees seeking revenge or they'd be using social media to anonymously spread the truth. That's why it's always handy to have an extra profile not connected to you or your work. There are so many groups for contractors, electricians, plumbers, landscapers and getting them to share their horror stories is super simple. Everyone needs a hobby and now several folks have made this theirs. I'll smile and give you an L all day at work and y'all buy the act every time. They've brought all this on themselves.

The camera's have been able to be viewed remotely for quite some time now. It was only a matter of time before they thinned LP out.

Listen man, Lowe's has ALWAYS been deceptive, dishonest, and flat out liars. I've been with Lowes 10 yrs, and they have NEVER been honest about anything. This shouldnt be suprising.

I like how they state its always "to better serve the customer and employees" but how does the XPO delivery system do that? Customers are filing CCIC's by the truckloads since its inception and Corporate knows this. How does the new Kronos help employees when all it does is screw them on every level?

We could all go on and on. Even their hiring practices are business ethics violations. They lie at interviews and do not disclose information suich as "seasonal". Anyone applying from outside retail doesnt know what this means. They are told "full time" seasonal 40 hrs per week. Then start and get scheduled for 8 weekly hours.

Look at current part timers. They are walking out in droves for not getting hours. Hours promised to them at time of hire that Lowes renegged on. My PT'ers have been getting 10 hrs per week if they are lucky. They cant live on it. How corporate thinks this new structure will succeed is stupidly insane. They will have no workers, and none with any experience or quality.

Bottom line is, if you work for Lowe's, you work for unethical slime. You gotta call a spade a spade. They know it too and dont care. They are content being spineless liars.

Basically, Lowes is run by D--k Cheney. Same devil, different mask.

Marvin knows, he is just a “Spin Doctor”. You can’t blame a snake for being a snake. The real travesty is the news reporting. They just print whatever PR piece that corporate gives them. It’s all buried under the headline of “Lowe’s to hire 65,000 new employees”. There is no investigative reporting anymore in this country.

Look for outside vendors to move in as spies. Worked for a company that did the same thing. Hired actual part time employees to, wait for it, WATCH THE OTHER EMPLOYEES! They filed reports weekly. We found a notebook one of them dropped.

One last note. The new cameras all over. They are not leaving with the LP. Who’s going to view that footage? Some offsite person at corporate? Most likely an employee of the offsite vendor using AI to look for suspicious activity.
