Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

I hope the layoffs go well

A quote from Office Space to the consultants at Initech as well as GM. " I hope your layoffs go well" Change is difficult, but it can be managed when you stay aware of the power of your choices, even if it’s simply your attitude. How we respond to something is just as important—if not more important—than our initial reaction. A successful person continues to look for work after he has found a job. Today's business climate may not be pleasant. Cutbacks, pay cuts and layoffs do not make anyone's job easy. But that does not mean that the humor need stop. Deal with it we all have to at some point in our lives. You are not the only one out there who has to deal with opportunity.

That's good advice. Always be in control of the attitude in how you handle the situation. You control your own reality. In the meantime while pursuing new employment, start a new business or learn to earn income in ways you weren't able to do. These kinds of situations tend to occur over and over again, so why not plant the seeds to start working for yourself?

My humor hasn't stopped. I've learned long enough ago that while working at GM, I'll never change from a competitors vehicle. Now, how silly might I feel having been laid off time and time, and time again, had I supported GM by driving their product. It would make me feel dirty and used more than I might be now. Equal pay for equal work. Anything over and above that exchange is a courtesy. There lies the humor.
