So did anyone laid off get a bonus?

There has to be team bonus for those who will stay. Or else, real talented people who can easily find a job elsewhere with more benefits, better pay would not bother staying here. So, there will be bonus definitely, but for those who will be staying, it may not be 100% but there will be Team GM Bonus.

teamGM Bonus = free cash flow.

Termination will be mean no teamGM bonus. The only exceptions are those that took the voluntary severance package or executive level.

I am not sure why this is such a difficult concept for people. You can cry and complain about how unfair it is, but it doesn't change the facts. It's not like GM has ever paid teamGM bonus money to former employees who worked all of part of a fiscal year and then left prior to the bonus being paid out the following Feb/March.

And that's why GM will terminate most/all people they want to get rid of by the end of this month or definitely before 2/28 to avoid paying bonus and save their cash.

teamGM is paid on 2/28....so that makes sense you'd get the payout if you are terminated March 1st. Not sure why this is difficult to understand here. If your effective last date is anytime before 2/28, you will not get your teamGM award. ONCE AGAIN, this was confirmed with my HR contact.

Q. If I am involuntarily terminated between now and February 2019; and if there is a teamGM performance plan payout

for the 2018 performance year will I receive a payment?

A. Employees who are involuntarily terminated with an effective date of March 1, 2019 will be entitled to receive a

teamGM Performance plan payout (if the plan pays out) for the 2018 performance year. Individual payouts, if any, are

based on an employee’s target payout opportunity, and both company and individual performance.

Everyone saying you're ineligible for bonus are flat wrong. If you actually read your new employee handbook it specifically says you will be given teamGM for how much you worked during the year. So you'll actually get one NEXT year too for the weeks/months you worked THIS year.

Please stop spreading lies.

I ran across some info doing a Socrates search and found the 2019 HR policy guide in the section on reduction in force about this. It seemed to state that if you were part of a workforce reduction prior to the Team GM pay date you get nothing even if you worked all of 2018.

executive compensation and packages follows a very different process than the non-executive employees. Your severance package is based on your years of service but your actual "effective date" of termination/of employment will make you ineligible for the bonus.

@X8FsHe7-oo q - there is something called severance package!! if what you're saying is correct, then don't you have to be employed to get health benefits, 1/2...6 months salary ?? But you still get them after being laid off. There's a difference between going through massive layoff and being fired. When you're fired, you don't get any severance package. Also notice that it is mentioned on 2019 benefits that GM executives who will face layoff will receive team performance bonus. So, why not employees?

You have to be employed to receive the bonus. Doesn’t matter if it was for 2018. I had a conversation with HR about this last week.

If Bonus is provided for 2018 performances, then those who were employee for 2018 deserve it.

Because it is a bonus provided to employees... and if you are laid off you are no longer an employee

What? Why wouldn't people being laid-off get the bonus, it was for work done in 2018, right?

Valid question...some of us need the bonus to get through the entire year..

In a neeting with my director I asked the same question. His understanding was that TeamGM goals were mostly met, so those that make it through the next couple of weeks are still looking at a 95% or so payout...

Love the “really” reply! The answer is no. Do you know the expression WWJD? In this case you only have to ask WWSD...the S means Scrooge!!
