Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Can you believe it....

Can you believe it, over a year ago now the company announced the closure of over 60 clubs AND in a matter of a few day, let some of the most talented Club Managers go. I obviously cannot speak for everybody, but most of the people that lost jobs were scared, I was one of them. Guess what, a year later and my life has changed in such an amazingly great way and so many that I stay in contact with say the same thing. I tell you all this because whatever happens, it’ll work out. There’s no doubt it’s scary, but it’ll work out and you’ll be so much happier in the long run.

To all those In senior leadership that may read this, most clubs are boring and lifeless. When you stopped allowing managers and associates to be “mavericks” you stopped creativity and have created a generation of doers instead of thinkers. Sam Walton said “People first and profits will follow”, it’s time to rethink your strategy to include engaged associates.

Lastly, John and Gizele, if you haven’t already, listen to the associates here, so many are right and too afraid to use the open door because it has shown to be an epic failure. Too many of your VP,s and MM’s are egomaniacs, absolutely rude, several (not all) are incompetent ( in way over their heads), and are what is tearing the organization apart. You have a good vision, but they are what is destroying to company. Get rid of a large number of them and start listening to your associates on the ground, in the field. They are the difference makers, not the Regional VP’s and MM’s.

Have faith, it’ll work out, it really will. May God Bless you all.

This is true theAxe has dropped on 2/5/2019 @ 3:00 p.m.. PTC's were informed positions have been eliminated, they have till March 29 to secure a position or leave the company. Sad day at Sam's club. Most PTC's are the heart of the club's.

I was displaced a year ago and honestly say I am much happier, healthier and living a better lifestyle... work/life balance is worth a lot! Plus working all those crazy hours and closing and then getting 3-4 hours sleep and having to open takes a toll on a persons health no matter what age you are. Very well said by the way!

There are major scars remaining and more to come. Moving on is a state of mind. As Napoleon stated “ Religion was invented to keep the poor from murdering the Rich” . People who have caused much pain ultimately will account for what they have done, and what they continue to do to many. Their turn will come. Moving on is life,

Never Firgive, and Never Forget!

Hey @iti some of us like to check up on the changes. We all know people who are still in this mess of a company. Why don't you figure out your future instead of complaining.

So well said! I am one that closed down also. I was nervous but knew I was done with the company. Now my life is so much better. My stress level has decreased dramatically! I have more time with my family. I made the right choice. Loving life!
