Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Not much comfort but what GM is doing will backfire on them

The actual plant workers are the backbone of the car industry, and no matter what technology they deploy the final product will always rely on workers that produce it with their own two hands. My take is that with this GM gambled away its most valuable assets, its workers. While they may “ put out the fire” that was started by the management in the first place, they will be generally on a big loss. I’d like to see who will stake their life in GM, by moving near a GM plant and starting a life there, or who will unconditionally pore their sweat for a company they believe in. Not much comfort for the ones affected, but in the long run, I see GM as a company with poor products that are made by cheap foreign and ineffective US workers.
