Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

you might be the lucky ones..time to find a new job while getting paid severance

while I'm at work ticked off about this WFH policy change everyday. Get with the times BNY Mellon..There are full time remote jobs out there and you're going to be p-ss-d off about 1 or 2 WFH days per week? I don't need a babysitter in order to do my job.

Oh we can WFH still for prod support? Oh we can WFH on Saturday at 3am for releases still though?? Funny how the rules change when it means overtime.

I was doing perfectly fine and loving my job until now. I have 'Exceed Expectation' rating for 2018. But if this non-WFH b---s--- is for real, I secretly would be a bit happy if I could get laid off with severance pay. That would be perfect. A nice vacation and time to find a new position that meets my needs while still getting some income for a while. I still am holding out hope is not for real and my manager won't give a sh-- about this policy change. Otherwise I'm out this b--ch.

New senior leader based to innovate center. Mandates assigned seating and vocal about no work from home. He himself works from home 2x week

Just like this poorly communicated new policy, Charlie and the Clueless Factory are a$$ backwards.

Workplace excellence discontinued - I guess now workplace mediocrity is the aspirational goal. WFH on any regular basis will now be extremely rare - medical necessity being an allowable carve out. To enforce this approval ultimately is at the executive level. Good luck to all!

There was another formal work From home that was implemented as WE “workplace excellence” was given as a huge cost savings to the bank. Staff desk shared and rotated weeks and others worked 2 days a week from home. Too bad I hear it was a great program while it lasted. They have revoked it in certain locations and are keeping in Houston due to space constraints. Maybe that is until they elimimaye enough positions there too.

The home based program was the one that was discontinued. The one where peoe work from home 3 or more days a week. An email came out about RWA is still available which is working from home 1 or 2 days a week. You have until 1/31 to apply.

Funny thing about this WFH policy. My manager is not in my office, I do not work with anyone in my office. Why do people care where I work from then? Silly thing to have this as a hard policy.

OP kind of sounds like she does need a babysitter

They are paying severance (supplemental unemployment). Your argument is invalid.

Also achieves the goal of ridding the company of over salaried blowhards with a sense of privilege without having to pay them severance.

So WFH one day a week would ruin that goal? Sounds ridiculous.

Studies over the decades show a need for face to face and team building after major organizational changes. It's pretty much standard practice across all large companies now. There's a method to the madness.
