Thread regarding Sears layoffs

it's up to the employees now to make this work

We have 5 billion chances to make this a success. Do your best to sell merchandise, add-ons, the rewards program, and whatever else generates revenue. Some shelves look bare ? Arrange the merchandise to give them a better look. Store dirty ? Help clean it up. Not enough advertising to get people in ? Let's do out best to promote the business on social media. Long line with angry customers ? Get off your rear and open up a register. This may be a last chance, and we can only use Eddie and upper management as a scapegoat for so long. We have responsibilities too.

Well, now that SHC is private, I’m sure all the employees will stay on board for the new company that values employees with raises, work life balance, great inexpensive benefits, 401 match, a pension, stock options, incentive bonuses, employee rewards for service and work load reduction.

Just like the company was like before EL.

@bec by twice the results does that mean we'll lose $4B before the holidays instead of $2B?

That probably is the "go forward" plan, double down on employee metrics and expect twice the results

Yes registers will now need to be at 90% for shop your way, 25% of all sales MUST be in protection plan sales, for every 100 people you ring up 20 should open up a new Sears card, and most importantly don't forget to do KYM and MET.

OP: (1) customers get sick of trying to add add-ons to their purchase and the rewards program causes confusion and long lines when they try to redeem stuff (2) try to stock shelves when there is no product ? the same can of shaving cream, spread out over a whole aisle one can deep, looks pathetic ! (3) try to clean a floor that is cracked up and hasn't been redone in 50 years ! (4) ok ill go on facebook and tell everyone i know to go buy something here, yay. (5) we only have so many registers that actually work, even if you see 20 in the store. some of the working ones are held together by duct tape.

Yeah it isn't the so called professional executives at the top, it is the people that get screwed over with the company at the bottom, it is clearly their fault....

It is their fault that the stores don't have any sort of products that customers actually want.

It is their fault that the stores are looking like sh-- with leaky roofs; disgusting bathrooms and unchanged floors or carpets.

It is their fault that they are forcing a bunch of stupid ideas that corporate thinks they were a great idea.

Yes, you are absolutely right...

Funny how all you store level associates want to blame everyone but yourselfs. You are the face of the company, you are the ones the customers deal with and see. You are the ones that stand around BS with your thimbs up your asses, you are the ones that have no sene of customer service. You are the ones that look unprofessional in appearance and in job knowledge. You are the ones who show zero pride in the areas you work, so you want to blame someone blame yourselfs!!

Uh, aren't you supposed to sell stuff, face shelves and keep the store neat? What have you been doing?

The store left by me manages to do these things. They do the best with what little they have. Don't blame the store level for the management's greed. No I don't work for Sears. I am a long time customer who hates what Eddie has done to the company.

Sorry, those 5 billion chances all went to the creditors. We can't even afford toilet paper.

If you want an all Craftsman garage go to Lowe's, not the bargain Chinese c-ap they slap a Craftsman label on at Sears.

Hope to see more of the Oakbrook IL concept stores perhaps in markets where Sears had pulled out. Go big on hardlines. Minimize the soft lines other than essentials (too much competition in that low margin arena anyway). You’re not competing with Wal Mart or Target or Home Depot. Sears is a unique and compelling place to shop. A great place for a customer to browse, and ultimately buy high quality high value items for their home.

Looking forward to Sears’ next chapter!

Please make this work! I don’t work for sears but my family is a HUGE supporter. I have fond memories growing up and going to sears on the weekend with my Dad. I want the same for my children. My 2 year old daughter already loves the tractor displays. No more full line sears where I live but am thankful for a Hometown store.

A winning culture doesn’t just get dictated top down. It starts bottom up too. The leaders of the 70s, 80s and early 90s never really got that and started a long decline. It really is never too late. Sears still has some awesome strengths. Don’t go to work defeated. Know you have some hardcore customers that are hoping everyday that you’re winning.

I used to and still tell my wife that I dream of an all-Craftsman garage because that’s how I grew up. Forget Eddie’s antics and go to work to win for your customers! Today is a new day and a new chance. If Eddie sees that he gets a bigger ROI by growing Sears, then that’s what he’ll ultimately do.
