Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Car manufacturing as we know it is a dying industry

Don’t get me wrong, car production will be always present in some form, and nothing will happen overnight, but the car industry is well over its peak and it will steadily decline in the following years. With the introduction of electric cars and new technologies will create not only a higher level of automation but a demand for a very different kind of worker than the one we see now in the industry. What we are witnessing are the first signs of change. So this is just the beginning, sad to say we’ll be seeing a lot more of plant closures and layoffs.

I suspect a lot more layoffs in the upcoming years.

Yup, that is why Japanese, Koreans, Chinese, Germans, French, and Italians are abandoning it in droves.

Yes, unfortunately with the advances in automation, many longtime employees will lose their jobs and usefulness. Yet the miserable, scroogelike execs couldn't care less and will keep theirs. Why not replace these fools with a decision making computer?
