Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Don’t be afraid of getting laid off be afraid of not

It’s not hard to find a better place. UP is no longer the holy grail it once was. I’m starting to think the ones who are laid off are the ones who are spared because all of those people’s work still exists and needs to be done. Those left to pick up the slack will soon be miserable and overloaded and expected to work nights and weekends with no motivation to do so other than the statement “be happy you still have a job”! Everyone I know who has left and already found jobs is better off, happier and less stressed out with no regrets. Don’t be afraid of getting laid off be afraid of not!

@XzMHKbn-qmm makes a great point.

The TE&Y schedule and lack of days off is unsustainable. People used to put up with it because they knew the company would take care of them at retirement. Not such a sure deal anymore.....

For those looking, I heard from a friend at Gallup that they are very interested in IT folks.

They are already requiring overtime in the Roseville service area. If no one on the overtime board wants to come in, you are required to stay. If you refuse, you will be d--g tested and sent home with a critical rule violation for rule 1.13 - Reporting and Complying with Instructions.

I have 18 years I wanted to get my 20 but I can’t take it anymore. Time to be done I can go somewhere else and get treated like garbage and have weekends off with out constant fear and intimidation tactics. Can’t even take a vacation day in TE&Y because they won’t stop cutting the boards. Good luck to you all I’m out!
