Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Transportation employees are afraid to turn in locomotive,car and track defects because of fear of retaliation by managers.

It is a very sad situation with UNION PACIFIC i know people who has witnessed direct threats if they don't work certain way they will be terminated. Many hope that people will stand up and voice there concerns and let it be known that SAFETY is being thrown out the door. I hope it does not take a rash of injuries or death to make the agencies who regulate safety and over see compliance within a railroad who are standing on sideline watching all this unfold before our eyes before they step in a stand up for safety and employees of the railroads.Many years of service given and most of the best workers who follow rules and put ethics first along with safety are losing their jobs when the yes man and workers who follows orders rather than stay in compliance with rules,ethics,eeoc,and railroad operating safety rules are the ones keeping their jobs and directing a very unsafe style of railroading.

They say it’s all about the job. If they deem your job no longer needed, irregardless of YOS, or if you were a good worker, etc. then you are gone. Of course they will hire cheaper labor in a year when service tanks.

Just curious as to what the determining factor is for getting laid off? I have witnessed hard working folks get laid off. While the lazy walk around without a care in the world! Other times the lazy have gotten the ax , while the hard working have been spared! Is this like a draft lottery? If your name comes up, you're gone? That's what it feels like
