This is the future. If you got fired from up apply for jobs at CSX or CP if you want to work for up. If you just want a railroad job to get railroad retirement get a job with any railroad. Your time transfers over. Vested in 5 years so if you did 4 go to a short line and work a year. If you didn’t have 30 but vested good for you. Either you need to walk away and tell yourself you aren’t leaving empty-handed and will get your reward down the road or apply to another railroad and continue vesting service

TSA and FRA employment also counts toward railroad retirement. I’ve heard that of youvwork for FRA for five years, you get health care for life. Federal govt jobs have good benefits.
Railroad retirement board website has emploment listings of all railroads class 1 to class 3 that pay into railroad retirements.
