What can the folks that were furloughed expect?

I understand the basics of this furloughed status, but what can the workers that got furloughed expect in reality? Are they really gonna call them back or is this just a standard cut that was done in a different way to satisfy the procedures and avoid litigation?

I was furloughed in 09 from the car dept. I got the call back it took 3 years. You need to talk to your union rep and ask them everything you can think of. Some unions make you pay cut dues to stay in the loop BRC is 5 dollars a month.

If you get furloughed due to economic downfall, i can understand, and myself would return to work. If you get furloughed due to corporate greed, i would never come back. If they have no loyalty to you, why would you reciprocate.

I have been with the railroad 13 years and I have been furloughed before. I was off for about a year and a half before I was called back. There is no required call back time they just have to call back. They call back people to work when they need them and it is in seniority order per the union agreement. The only down fall is they will abuse it and call people for a few months and then cut them back off. So people that find a job to support there family will quit that come back to the railroad and get cut back off. And if you don’t take the call back after 30 days you lose your seniority
