Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Seeking Alpha 74% marketing 62% IT cuts ?

can Cuts this deep still actually be made after all of the cutting that has been done so far it doesn't seem that the company would be viable with so many deep cuts

Sears systems are such a clusterf__k that they really can't take anything out without the whole thing collapsing like a house of cards.

A 62% cut in IT spending is not necessarily all in headcount. Systems and storage are being changed, which could account for some cost savings. Hard to see how they cut 74% in marketing, as there hasn't been much advertising spend in recent months.

They already cut A lot of IT during bankruptcy. SYW still pumped out the points. Now Eddie knows he doesn’t need those people anymore. The automated system continues to give free merchandise away, the website is pretty functional. All you need is enough people to debug it if it goes down, big cost savings.

Online marketing doesn’t require a ton of staff. Just some spam bots. Eddie can save save save.

You could have asked 15 years ago how could a company cut 85% of its stores. It did. Debate the fact it was not successful or was. But they did it.

Sure, why not? Who needs people when you have SYWR!
