I was walked out of UPC last Tuesday, and I stupidly turned over my USB security key. Now I can't get into the company laptop I normally keep at home (they lock out the password login option when you are terminated). So if there's any personal files on that computer, I can't get to them now.
Don't make this mistake. Copy any personal files, photos, etc. from your desktop AND your laptop NOW, before you experience the walk of shame. Better yet, just leave your company laptop at UPC. If you really need to your company laptop at home, like I did, then keep that security key with you when you walk out.
The key is not mentioned in the termination letter or the termination agreement, so apparently they don't care about it. (But they DO care about your badge, which must be turned over to the friendly NPC-Faced HR Terminator Lady before you are escorted you to the gates in the lobby and asked never to return.)
