Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Does it make sense to consolidate further?

I don't see enough progress in the stores. Staffing is slim, standards continue to slip, and the product assortment is not compelling. I'm curious to hear some ideas. If you were the CEO what actions would you take to get things back in order?

“INVEST” in the employees or “colleagues” that are putting EVERYTHING they have into their job/career at Macy’s!!.

You have some that come in everyday and work hard, give it their ALL! and then you have others that come in just to get their paycheck and contribute NOTHING! Unfortunately they still get the same percent of the “Path To Growth” incentive/bonus. The hard workers are no longer recognized as such. Throw a little Macy’s money at us every once in a while for contests that pit colleagues against each other instead of team building??? If you’re not a TEAM player...you need to be in an area where a TEAM member isn’t needed! Put them at a table at the main entrance JUST to get loyalties all day! It’s not fair to others not to require them to do their share of the WORK! that is necessary on a daily basis!

What does mgmt talk about in those “Leadership” meetings for hours!??

I apologize for the vent, but hopefully some of you will understand my frustration.

I agree with most of everything @XFWg63R-7eaz wrote except the Saturday and Sunday operating hours. Need to remain open on the weekends, but reduce extended hours during One Day Sale and other events like Friends & Family. If shoppers need the extended hours during these high promotion events, then they can shop online.

Store Managers need operations experience! I was a better Store Manager because I had solid exposure as an MTM. Never an MSO, but my MTM tenure at a market leader door provided me a lot of background some of my peers did not have.

Back to the era of Sales Managers owning their full business. Merchandising, signing, selling. Those were the good days with more well rounded, fully competent managers in store.

Your nuts, they do most their business on weekends. Why would they close early Saturday and completely Sunday.

Cut CEO pay to no more than 1 million a year. Cut all upper executive pay. Store Manager required to have OPS experience, prior to becoming an RGM.

Staff stores. Close at 6:00 on Saturday, close on Sunday. Continue to staff store engineer and IT staff. In house. Cut MTM position. Sales Managers need hands on with merchandise.

spend money to make money

Gotta staff your stores better, I have left the company and i hate coming to the store because i can never find anyone and its no ones fault

Get rid of specials and super buys, customer doesnt care about already at lowest price. Put them on sale at a higher price and allow customer to use their coupons. Customers get more out of being able to use a coupon and will keep coming back.

Well the list is long. From my POV. Now I am in a call center so I see it all

Ways to many sales

Way to many accommodations given to customers for the wrong reasons. If they honestly deserve one that’s one thing other than that the “special pricing” needs to stop at the store and corporate level

Constant change of employees due to the company not wanting to invest in the ones that are loyal to them. They are losing long term employees over wanting to make them into something that just is not possible. (If you are in a store you have no idea what they are doing to the call center employees, just like we have no idea what it’s like for you in a store)

Store employees don’t have the staff to answer the phones so they are losing sales and customer relationships with they own city. Which in turn makes their store lose money.

The changes that have come over the company in the last year to year and a half are not for the better. They have lost sight of the customer.

They have many items online that are not actually available for purchase, or as soon as the order is placed it gets cancelled due to not having the inventory. This is business 101

Believe me I could go on, but I think you got the point. We will see where the year goes. Only time will tell

Their is no longer an anticipation or excitement for our sales because we are always on sale. One Day sales weekends were insane.

People looked forward to friends snd family. Now VIP, Ultimate shopping, 2 friends and family are all the same and now we are adding 25% and 30% passes for card holders.

The cost to change signs to take something from a special to Use your card and ... its the same price is nonsense.

Stop trying to force bad trend. Nonething ever matches from dept to dept. RTW, Fashion Jewelry, accessories..
