Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

This is ridiculous

Now that the layoffs are over, it becomes clear that GM expects us to do the same amount of work we did before only with fewer people left to do it. We are expected to take over the work that was being done by other people for no extra compensation (no, I'm not counting the miserable raise and bonuses as extra compensation, that was well earned by each of us prior to this.)

Do they really think this will work long term?

All those rumors about company car being taken away from level 8s was just that - a rumor. In fact level 8s are all there as far as I know. I guess working is meaningless. Only management matters even though now workers per manager are less.

I have worked for mid-sized companies for over 10 years, happy with the work - but bonuses and raises dont exist for everyone... learn to appreciate when you do get them then acting spoilt... "the miserable raise and bonuses as extra compensation". If you're so miserable please see yourself out of the door, only you can do that.

As I didn’t see the 25% leadership cut mentioned they would do, this leaves more to delegate the same or more work for those who remain. Another 2k gone in the fall will only make it worse. After all salaried employees have no representation and taken advantage of to the max.

The millenials are the ones GM wants to keep.

Feel free to leave anytime you want. Based on your comment you must be a millenial.

Its only just begun and everyone (including myself) is burnt out at work. High expectations with little to no compensation. It's pathetic. Planning to quit soon.

Find a new job if you're not happy.

You sound surprised!

and to make it worse i know managers are using fear to try and get more out of those left behind.

My heart goes out to the NCH that will probably get burned out due to being overworked.
