Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Total Company sales are not up, they are down

Total Company sales are not up, they are down. They are able to post up because of the store closures from last year and therefore those stores helped increase other stores. Overall, the company lot Top Line Sales last year. You also must know that Sam's operates on a Net Operating Income of about 4% and is probably lower now. That simply means out of the $50B in sales they only net $1B. Thats very low when you start to think of all the other costs that are associated with running the company and building its future. Just thought you should know.

Great post @XGeiEFD-1ioa ! Think it's important to state the truth, especially in times like this when they are trying to fool us with false metrics and stories about the company growth.

"No, your wrong. Closing all those Clubs mean that they were struggling and they continue to do so. More and more people are losing there jobs. Its spiralling out of control . Your Sams share should have been doubled with the help from the closed Clubs. That doesn't take brains to figure out. I don't even want to talk about your 2% raise !"

So my club which is 3 hours away from the clubs that closed was helped from them closings? Am I suppose to be outraged about my bonus doubling. People are losing jobs because they are replaceable.

Amazing the lack of intelligence that Sams club associates have.

Well, well, well looks like we’ve found the brain trust that could just run the company so much better. Just like their own checkbooks 🤣.

Ask John and Gisel to give a little money back. They are the ones bringing us down.

@XHedF9j I believe the truth is also important.

Here's a copy of the earnings report so everyone, including you, can show the information. https://news.walmart.com/2019/02/19/walmart-us-q4-comp-sales-1-grew-42-and-walmart-us-ecommerce-sales-grew-43-q4-2019-gaap-eps-of-127

Y/Y Q4 Sales are down by 3.7% but operating income is up Y/Y from -$300 million to a positive $400 million. I'm pretty sure that's the hit from closing 63 locations.

Y/Y FY Sales are down 2.3%. From $59.2 to $57.8 billion but operating income in basically the same. Yes FY18 shows a lesser operating income but that's from that -$300 million hit they took. Add that back in and $1.5 billion. I could keep pointing out things they did that would also keep a low number. Remodel here, new fulfillment center there and new tables everywhere, etc. Love them or hate them they are investing more than pocketing.

Just as a reminder that they don't do a breakout report on membership income and that retail is a low margin business when you think about the numbers in general. Actually read the earning reports of retailers and you'll see that. Did you not notice all the retailers going out of business? Not investing in their business with their margins.

But I'm still one that thinks that Sam's Club could do better on the numbers. They need to work harder to get sales up but we have to remember they cut 10% of their fleet of clubs and based on the number we can see they were dragging down the other clubs if they accounted for such a small part of sales.

In other words closing the stores was the right thing to do, everyone still employed just received a raise and my Sam's share was double from last year...what's your complaint again?
