I am so grateful I was able to retire 30/60 seven months ago, All 5 supervisors seen this coming and we all got out . Really feel bad for former co-workers .Hang in there

When Railroad is soft you can't beat it but when it's hard you get screwed

Who cares if none of the customers get serviced and no freight is delivered? If we don’t run any trains, our expenses go down! And that’s good for operating ratio right? What’s that? We still need revenue? Are you sure? Maybe we just need to fire more people.

Fake News? It’s the truth. Maybe all the trains stall are due to deferred maintenance on the locomotives. UP has shredded the mechanical Department. Pathetic

There's a downtown in Elkhorn?

I’ve noticed trains in Elkhorn are sitting and waiting; either sitting in elkhorn at the crossing or sitting on the bridge between Elkhorn and Omaha on 120th street bridge. Not used to seeing, especially in downtown Elkhorn.

Poor Sammy! He and the rest of OPR might get some trackage rights along with Genesee and Wyoming.

UP can't handle it

I’ve heard this same issue happening in the Mid America service area! The location where this is happening they are constantly talking of cutting more employees! I may be missing something, but I can’t see how this is going to end well. jmo

Portland operations should improve when you guys take on some of the business being diverted from Hinkle. Senior execs have taken second biggest yard (by land size) and reduced it to a 1960s style flat switching fiasco. But i know theres lots of room to switch cars in the big open spaces of greater portland lol

It appears that UP's Precision Scheduled Railroading in the Portland Service Unit is grinding to a halt as evidenced by what the Oregon Pacific is experiencing.

Saturdays MPDEU had 22 cars, both loads and emptys, for the OPR's Molalla Division to set out at Canby on Saturday night. For some reason the cars all got "Precision Scheduled" to set out to the Willamette Valley Railroad at Woodburn. Realizing the screwup, "Mismanagement" scrambled to figure out a solutuion and ended up having the Salem Switcher retrieve them on Monday morning and take them to Salem to be again "Precision Scheduled" on Tuesdays MEUPD to go back to Albina and repeat their "Precision Schedule" all over again on Wednesday's MPDEU. This all means we won't see the cars until Wednesday which gives only two days to get the cars spotted and loaded/unloaded in order for OPR to maintain OUR PSR schedule which has been in place since 1993. Worse yet, the 22 cars will show up at the same time as another like quantity "Precision Scheduled" for delivery next Saturday which cannot be accommodated and will have to stay in Albina further inconveniencing our customers.

To make matters worse, an empty ARMN reefer in Albina "Precision Scheduled" to intewrchange to the OPR East Portland Division today for loading this week is now in Roseville "Precision Scheduled" to interchange on Friday which will never happen in a UP world. That product will depart for the midwest tomorrow in three trucks Precision Scheduled by the trucking company to arrive at their destinations on time.

Managers come and go, don't answer their phones and seldom return calls..I'm so tired of this c-ap.makes me wonder why the hell I got in the railroad business....bring back the EsPee....problems and all.

Fake news. Maybe clogged up due to train stalls , but operationally? It is not.

This is how it works. Shakes c-ap up and shows them all the c-ap that they are looking for. HOWEVER after that fact your left with minimal staffing and the remainder are to make due with what is left. We were the first hit with this PSR c-ap

Gotta love it when a plan comes together! I’m sure there’s issues system wide of all kinds showing up in all departments! We’ve had a few ourselves
