Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The Corporaton offers many opportunities; earn your path toward success.

For all those who complain profusely; apparently you fail to achieve that which you seek. Maybe, just maybe, you are a portion of that result. Seek less to blame the corporation, leadership and others in your department, team or group. Rather have some personal accountability when considering the results of your efforts and the measure by which you serve the interests of the company. Perhaps among the many employees, you are not the brightest or best. Work hard, try to give your best, seek to understand and to perform gainfully toward the goals of your role and the aim of your positiion. All else is folly. End the madness of wallowing in complaint. It gains null.

That world is shrinking every day. Pretty soon the only opportunities will be GOM, MCBU or TCO.

Chevron has more opportunities than most companies. The world is your oyster. Make it happen by always doing your best and being very fleksible.

Resistance is futile: Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be assimilated into the collective!

Tolerating, promoting and defending workplace bullying and persecution has had some serious consequences in our society. I hope those posting below to both defend it and, yet again, try to absolve themselves of their bigotry by blaming the victim hope they think the risk is worth it. You can throw out as many cliches as you like, but in the end actions will always speak louder than words. I have a family, I'm not getting involved in promoting or defending that kind of thing.

I see a lot of "management potential" in all of these posts. (Whisper --- that's not a good thing.)

It is important to understand that Chevron, like all medium to large organizations and governments, is largely three types of people.

Sociopaths are the uppermost management and those who will one day be upper management. These people will do or say anything which advances their own personal interest, which is typically money, power and the trappings of executive life (unlimited expense accounts, aircraft). They will appear to be interested in employee well-being, promoting women, respecting g--s, the environment, whatever it takes while at the same time laying off thousands. They are complete fakes and that is their nature and the only way they have ever gotten ahead. The best ones, of course, do not appear to be fakes!

Enablers of Sociopaths are the rest of the management levels. They are not sociopaths, for the most part, but they see and understand exactly what the Sociopaths are doing. They are along for the ride and the sc-aps which are thrown their way to clean up after the Sociopaths. They make and enforce the Rules, according to the whims of the Sociopaths. The see the Sociopaths up close and are horrified but grit their teeth and go along to get along. The have seen Sociopaths destroy those who have defied them.

Everyone else is Victims. 80-90% of the company are clueless, hapless victims of the Sociopaths and their toadie Enablers. They will go thru the motions without ever realizing the Sociopaths are manipulating them or that the Enablers are crushing them. Many are happy because they are blind to the truth and see life and work in simplistic ways. They follow the rules, find the happy middle road, don't make waves, etc. They have no desire to get ahead or understanding of how to do so. They may occasionally be angry or lash out because they really don't know what is going on around them. These are the people who are laid off because they are not even part of the game, really.

If you haven't been paying attention, there aren't any layoffs happening at the moment. Much of the recent discussion threads on this site are and have been by persons unhappy with leadership decisions surrounding the PDC, managed moves, and percieved unfairness in placement practices. However, most of those threads were deleted. This post was simply speaking to the other side of that coin. And as expected, the persecuted once again arose crying foul. Only to be followed by the clueless.

Ok, well I will try to be polite and encouraging. Blame was never mentioned in my post. Others are not truly in control, that is a lie you tell yourself. Your abililty to elevate is not dependant on others, unless you believe it so. You are and will remain subject to that which you give power over yourself. Reality is neither stone nor sickle. Cold hard facts are in truth, limits we allow based on fears we accept. Sorry man; your subjugation simply is not the result of a brutal oppressor, regardless of who sits on the throne. Broaden your basis of understanding and seek wisdom of a different source. I wish you both luck and the will to change.

So when a system of bullying and persecution, where individuals are empowered to denigrate others and apply a hostile and bigoted environment designed to create nothing but negative hate with consequence entirely on the person being attacked, you should blame yourself.

Interesting. Why am I not surprised that this is a Chevron value.
