Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

It's ridiculous

It's ridiculous. They layoff employees, hire overseas to cut costs.... and all the time the guys at the top take more and more money for themselves. Why does Oracle need two CEOs? and on top of that I'm sure LE makes a bundle. It's really like there are 3 CEOs. They should count LE in the total. That would put Oracle at #1, if you count him.

It's clear the company exists for only one purpose, to support the 3 stooges at the top. Propping up the stock apparently serves that purpose, even though the company will suffer and possibly collapse.

Stupid.

The reason they get away with doing this, is that people stay and put up with it.

If the employees didn't stay, it would not be done.

The employees let it be done to them. There are a lot of people desperate for a job, any job, and those are the people who work for Oracle.

This isn't 1960 anymore, there is no loyalty reward by staying with a company that has no loyalty or chooses not to share financial success with you. It is a long held belief (I don't know why) that you shouldn't "job hop" and you will have difficulty explaining why you didn't stay for 2, 5 or 10 years at a previous job. I've never been held to that myth, I change jobs when I want more money or a different career path. Never had any issues explaining it to a new employer. If you don't like the politics, pay or working conditions at Oracle - leave. Pack up your mini van, your children and move. But if you chose to stay, then you're accepting the c*(&p that Oracle dishes out.

Simple. If you think this way, work for Oracle's competitors :)

Never had "loyalty" to any companies I worked for. I learned and asked much as I can and when hit the ceiling then I moved on with 1 week notice to better paying jobs. Don't understand why people complain about companies not having royalty to their employees.

Stupid, short sighted and vile- but legal. No laws (unfortunately) that prevent corporations from paying the top 1% the most money. It's not equitable but it is capitalism and business practices at their worst. No incentive to keep employees other than their perceived value and that's not measured in expertise or years at the company. It's bottom line actuals and Oracle does not care about employee loyalty, benefits or keeping people who understand the products It's only about $$.

If you were them and you had the power to do what they have done would you not do the same thing?
