Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

ESP vs VSP

VSP was a choice and those on VSP should be very much thankful of vz for their paycheck so far and for the fat VSP check that will be on their way and repay back vz with their best intentions but ESP are the ones who barely escaped the slave trade into infy and were shoved down their throat to quit the job that they loved.

VSPs walk around thinking all ESPs are on the same boat as them and want to exchange exit notes and experiences. Nothing personal but just go on with your way. You do not have much in common with ESPs.

C-syr—- I think what he is saying is that VSPs were sort of house slaves and ESPs were field slaves who had lesser of a value.

Also the projects selected for INFY were things that were less strategic and mostly in the Run & Operate mode. Anyone associated only with these were shipped. Nothing to do with anyone considering people more/less valuable

c-vut, you really think the VSP-ers backstabbed the company? After years of getting backstabbed by VZ with lay-off after lay-off, 1% raises and lies by management claiming to live the “credo”? We did not backstab a one, just tired of getting it in the shorts.

I dont think everyone knows the differences except the ESPs (slightly more restrictive than VSP rules). I am in ESP and just hope that they tell us soon when our last day is. This lame duck employment is no fun

They gave it to you to avoid lawsuits. VSPs were not sent over to INFY because they were thought more valuable to be kept around but in a way VSPs backstabed management by taking the package. The management was hoping they would not ask for VSP but they did. They worked hard filtering out whom to sell to infy to whom to keep around for future company picnics.

As one of the ones laid off last week I agree with the person who said we could have been offered nothing! To me it's a blessing in disguise. Verizon is not the same anymore and its time to see what else is there. To be able to receive a severance and unemployment while job searching for my next place of employment is more than I could have asked for if I was just let go!

You need to get rid of that chip on your shoulder. I am an ESPer and I think the two groups have a LOT in common. You may think they had much more choice than we did, but most see the writing in the wall and are getting out while the getting is good. You may not have volunteered, but you are getting an enhanced check too. We are fortunate that the company folded on that because we could have been left with nothing. I was not really ready to leave yet, but now that I am, I am excited by the opportunities that might await me. Just waiting for my 30 day notice. You need to let go and move on. It's nothing personal.
