Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Vacation Payouts

Was told by store manager, who got it from the Market (district) Leader today, that sometime in the next month or two all Sears and Kmart employees will have their accrued vacation paid out in a lump sum and everyone will be reset to zero. It has not been determined whether the vacation benefit or any benefits will continue. It is being discussed and evaluated in Hoffman Estates this week. Also no word on whether Full time will be eliminated. Remember, Eddie said he was going to run the stores lean. Keep your fingers crossed. Might be a good time to think about looking for another job.

@iyf That is the old Sears MyHR page from the old Sears. Remember the company is now private. There has not been a new MyHR issued yet by the new Sears. Oh, and by the way, companies can pay out your accrued vacation anytime they want to unless you have a employment contract that says otherwise or you are covered by a union.

Full vacation accrual payouts and benefit extensions are typically State specific so do your homework now so you know what to expect. Don't bank on old Sears Holdings HR policies carrying any weight in Transform Holdco decisions.

Another slap on the face for employees. Obviously they are going to pay the whole vacation that you have and receive no more vacation after that other than you work you get paid. I guess Sears is honestly trying to crunch another year before the file for BK. I am surprised they are holding it in 2019 I thought it was their year, but maybe it will be 2020.

Per the MyHR page, the only time vacation will be paid out is to associates in states/cities that require it when Transform formally takes over our employment.

A lot of people on here knew for a fact that Sears was going to shut down completely last year. Why not just name the store if you really know anything.

The right time to look for another job was long before now.

I know for a fact that a very infamous Sears location will be shut down soon and turned into some sort of distribution center for another company. This is one of the largest remaining stores, so I'm assuming all the others will eventually follow...

Yeah it is looking like they will be getting rid of things, not good.
