...where does the company go from there? The company admitted we wouldn’t see anything worth noting about 5G for another 5-8 years. We have aging copper that needs to be updated. TV is a dying business. Wireless has plateaued. Verizon Media/Oath, not even going there. Not that the other telecoms are doing any better, but every move we’ve done has been worthless. Not nescerrarily a failure, just worthless to the companies bottom line. Wireless, the cash cow, is now being seen for what it is. Nothing!! Unless Hans try’s to go after something, we’re done.

This 5G is a scam, why everyone is talking about 5G like it’s some new revolutionary technology, something never seen before...it is just another piece of electronics that gives more speed...have you ever tested LTE with your phone, a lot of people already get 50MB with 1 bar on their cell, getting more speed on your cell is like having a Ferrari, but when you get to the highway you are restricted by the speed limit....
It is just some marketing to keep customers excited eager to buy and the shareholders on a leach. To make things worst this 5G is not exclusive to any company, so how can this impact your customer base if every other company has it and can upgrade their existing customer to it. (Not like when apple came up with the iPhone and killed all competition for a while).
I work for AT&T and it is even worst, because the only thing 5G is gonna do is kill the wireline phone, internet and TV, put more people out of work and put extra money back into the shareholders pockets, but nothing for the employee...
@XX2WMpb-3kmy 5G mmWave will bankrupt Verizon.
@2akg: gotta include insurance , salary ( everyone is making top dollar) and benefits in that equation
Wireless fiber infers that you’re on your very own line. Wireless cable infers you’re on a shared network. 5G shares an ONT at the microcell shared with others. A shared network! FTTP, you aren’t sharing that ONT with anyone. 5G is nothing more than glorified wireless cable.
@2uwa "...but probably not cost efficient . Takes too many employees to maintain."
I doubt that. What will be the cost to place the 20,000+ micro sites and fiber to them for a 5G that is limited to distance? Easement and access cost for the sites?
I have fiber to the side of my house ( non-verizon ), in 9 years the O-NID has been changed once and that is it. 5G will never provide the quality of service and consistent service that fiber to the prem will. I doubt that any of the companies will really do much with 5G other than roadway, arena, and business hall type of service; anywhere there is unobstructed and weather free line of site. 5G will become the new 'wi-fi' in business and home environments.
@2ub1 : 5G is wireless and fiber to the prem is probably better , but probably not cost efficient . Takes too many employees to maintain
why are you applying words like cable and fiber on wireless tech? Was 3g considered wireless copper?
5G is wireless cable, not wireless fiber. Fiber to the prem is superior in every way possible.
tv is huge, just because it is slowing doesn't mean it isn't profitable
That’s speculative. Selling off stock when you resign is normal.
Powell already sold his stock.he knew
Previous person doesn’t understand the question. Not what’s up with us. What’s up with the company? God forsaken 2023 trolls don’t know how to read.
You are already done in 2023 !
