Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

What benefits do they see in becoming a holding company?

Could someone please explain. What does that whole story mean. What will be better at Xerox when it becomes a holding company? Also, does this transition imply an organization on a personal level? Will there be cuts when the reorg happens?

This has everything to do with the sale of the company, and just means we are getting closer to the eventual announcement. HP purchasing Xerox is the most likely option. This most recent holding company alignment is not that uncommon. Remember when Google created a holding company called Alphabet, with all the business units falling under the Alphabet umbrella. This is what Xerox is doing. There are some tax advantages, etc, BUT, this is all about the sale. It all started at the beginning of the year when NAO (North America Org) became The Americas (including South and Central America) all reporting to Feldman. The DMO channel fell under Europe. Why? My guess, HP purchased Europes largest dealer/distributor last year (https://industryanalysts.com/8218_hp/). So, they are all set in Europe. Perhaps HP isn't interested in PARC, Europe, DMO, etc. So, Xerox is putting the packages together to sell off all the pieces. You heard it here first folks!

IMO In trying to sell Xerox and parts of Xerox, management has received feedback from parties about some concerns about value and structure. Making this change enables higher value sale for Icahn.

There are lots of reasons, it's pretty much impossible to tell what their thoughts are. With no communication from senior management so far, we can only speculate.
